The Planetarium is the perfect venue for taking your students on thrilling voyages of exploration. Each multimedia show in our library is targeted at specific grade levels. The subject matter includes a wide range of astronomical and space science topics

School Shows
A visit to the Planetarium generally consists of three parts:

    > A multimedia show of the appropriate grade level and topic (your choice)
    > A guided tour of the evening sky using the planetarium's star projector
    > A question and answer session at the end of each show by knowledgeable staff

Dates and Times
Programs may be scheduled Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the following times: 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 pm. Tuesday and Thursday show times are 11:00 a.m. and
12:30 p.m. Other dates and times may be available by special arrangement.

Number of Students
The Planetarium has a maximum seating capacity of 50. If your group is larger, arrangements for two separate shows will be necessary.

Fee Schedule for Groups
Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm: $2 per person with a minimum charge of $30 for each show.
Weekends, Evenings, Holidays: $2 per person with a minimum charge of $50 for each show.
All fees must be paid by check; cash will not be accepted.

How to Schedule
A group reservation guarantees a private showing for your class. Reservations can be made by calling our Planetarium secretary at (936) 468-3001 (Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) You are encouraged to register as far in advance as possible. The planetarium program requires approximately one hour including time for check-in, restroom use, etc. Before making a reservation please have the following information handy:

    > Your organization, address and phone numbers where you can be contacted
    > Grade level and the total number that will be attending
    > Title(s) of program requested - see Show Library
    > Preferred date and time
    > Two alternative dates and times

Other Suggestions
Here are some additional recommendations to consider before calling to make a reservation:

    > Determine bus availability
    > Have your calendar handy in case your chosen date(s) are filled.
    > You may want to allow time for a restroom break before (or after) the show.
    > You can combine shows with tours of other facilities on the Stephen F. Austin Campus.

Confirmation
The Planetarium secretary will email a confirmation for each show reservation. Please verify that the date, time and show are correct. Cancellations should be reported immediately to the Planetarium reservationist. Every effort will be made to reschedule your visit. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the scheduled show time. Groups arriving late may not be admitted.

Location
The Planetarium is located inside the Math-Nursing Building (building 47) on the SFASU Campus. Students may be dropped off at the bus stop on the East side of the building. Buses must then be moved to the Coliseum parking lot. For your convenience, a map showing the Planetarium's campus location will be mailed to you when a show reservation is made.
