PROJECTILE MOTION


Objective:

  • To hit a calculated target with a projectile launched horizontally from a "cliff" above the target.

    • Apparatus:

  • The apparatus will be supplied by the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stephen F. Austin State University and will be kept secret until the day of the Olympics. Launches will take place in one of our physics laboratories.

    • Preparation:

  • Teams should be able to solve projectile motion problems, especially for a projectile fired horizontally from above the target.

    • Scoring:

  • Scoring will be based on the accuracy the shot. The time to complete the task will serve as tie breakers.
