Purple T-Shirts

If you have a purple shirt, then you may want to wear it today.  We are moving this week's seminar to another day so that students, faculty, and staff have the opportunity to participate in a gesture of support for Virginia Tech described in the email below.  The new seminar schedule is also given at the bottom of this message.

Subject: SFA students, faculty and staff to stand with Virginia Tech at April 19 event

In response to the events on the Virginia Tech campus, SFA students, faculty and staff are encouraged to show the Hokies that we care and stand beside them. At 4 p.m. Thursday, April 19, SFA will take a group photo to send to the student body at Virginia Tech.

We ask that all participants wear purple and gather near the SFA logo on the football field at Homer Bryce Stadium. We will gather groups to construct a giant VT next to the SFA logo. University photographer Hardy Meredith will take the photo.

We will have students on hand to collect donations for the general scholarship fund of Virginia Tech University so we, as students, faculty and staff, can show our lasting support.

The photo will be framed and sent to Virginia Tech along with the donation and an official letter of condolence from Brittany Scott, student body president, and Dr. Baker Pattillo.

As a university community, we are shocked at the events that took place in Blacksburg and feel that this is a wonderful way to show that we stand with Virginia Tech. If you have any questions, please direct them to Michael Preston in the Office of Student Affairs at 468-2988 or mpreston@sfasu.edu
