Job Opportunity (by Dr. Markworth) Wanted: Student Instructor for SFA 101. This Fall we are putting together a set of linked courses, which will include SFA 101, PHY 108, and ENG 111. A set of linked courses means that the students are the same in each class and the instructors coordinate meeting times and even course material to enhance progress. I have taught SFA 101 for a number of years, but this time will be slightly different. We will have a targeted class of Physics and Pre-Engineering majors. The student instructor can offer important advise and guidance in helping students make the transition to college life. I am looking for a junior or senior, female, physics or engineering major, with a GPA of at least 2.75. We have found that it works best if the instructor and student instructor are of opposite gender. The time of the class is already set at 12:30 - 1:20 PM TR. The student instructor is a paid position, requiring a minimum of six hours per week. We will be asking each of our student instructors to enroll in a one hour class: GBU 475.002 Special Problems: Leadership in Action, which Dr. Tim Clipson will instruct this fall. The class will meet at 3:30 on Tuesday afternoons for one hour and all our student instructors will be required to attend. If this class works into your degree plan, it will count toward graduation credit and you will be asked to pay for the course. If it doesn't work into the degree plan, then it will not carry credit, you do not pay for it, but yuou still must attend. The one hour of class per week counts toward the six hours of required work. Please contact Dr. Markworth soon if you are interested.
