Astrophysics is the branch of astronomy concerned primarily with the properties and structure of cosmic objects, including the universe as a whole. In this course the properties of light, stellar evolution, and galactic dynamics are treated in quantitative manner. Here are the three main topics for this course:

1. The study of stars: their structure and evolution

2. The study of galaxies: their structure and evolution; the interstellar medium

3. Cosmology: the origin and evolution of the universe as a whole
